KM

Look around u
U will see
Most people screaming
As loud as can be
But if u’re smart
Or lucky enough
U’ll spot those rare few
Separate them from the fluff

Those quiet voices
With gentle intonations
Can make or break u
The sound of conscience

I met this girl
Laughter all sweetness & light
And she didn't speak very loud
Indeed, she was quite slight
But she was one of those
With a voice as quiet as can be
But one with a strange power
Is the impact she had on me

Her quiet voice
With gentle intonations
Can make or break u
The sound of conscience

Her voice had reason
Her voice was true
Sometimes brutal, esp with self
In this jaded world, it was new
And as I got to know her
I know it came from a place
Of massive strength & discipline
Overcoming odds with such grace

Her quiet voice
With gentle intonations
Can make or break u
The sound of conscience

And make no mistake
She is more than her voice of strength
She has surprising softenesses
A precipitous artistic bent
But hidden inside the wrapping
Of talent & intelligence
Her character gives an ethereal glow
And for me she is the voice of conscience

Her quiet voice
With gentle intonations
Can make or break u
The sound of conscience

AM

It was a room
As dull as can be
Where I first met her
The girl who grew on me

She appeared smart
In control, you know
But how could I’ve said
She’d become so much more

In the first few months
I came to know her well
But it was only the tip
As now I can tell

It might so appear
We are so very apart
And that may well be true
At least true in part

But we have a core
That’s same, so much so
If someone called us soul-sisters
I would not say ‘No’

She has a pure spirit
Unlike any I’ve seen
She thinks what she says
She says what she means

And she has a rare thirst
To know, to comprehend
To listen before speaking
With stranger, or with friend

Coz she is unbiased
Or as much as can be
She is open to a fault
This girl who grew on me

But the best thing about her
She breaks the stereotype
She’s un-slot-able
She’s above all that tripe

And I am a better person
Because of her, it’s true
And for life I can say
She’ll be part of my crew

So as I leave Unilever
I’ve gained so much, you see
And the best of it all

The girl who grew on me
